FastFinder (patent pending) is an ingenious adaptation of firearms technology to the high-performance photography and video worlds. Serious action photographers of all types have long suffered from the risk of loosing THE shot because they were constrained by the cameras eyepiece, which limited their field of view or peripheral vision. Very often action photographers wielding big lenses are either taking a break or not paying attention and something happens right in front of them. They fail to record the shot because they weren’t on target. Now, with a FastFinder unit they can be looking over the camera at all times with both eyes open, be aware of their surroundings and on the shot in an instant. This can be invaluable to the surveillance community as well. By merely superimposing the dot on a stationary or moving target success ratios dramatically increase. Spotters can get on target quicker with their spotting scopes and stargazers using big telescopes will love the simplicity of pinpointing objects in the night sky. We’ll soon have a mount for those systems as well.
How it works:
Place one of the FastFinder solutions in the hot-shoe of the camera and regulate the red dot with the center-focusing segment of the camera viewfinder at the distance required. Set the camera to Continuous Auto Focus with Focus Track. When something happens that you need to jump on, or need to track a fast moving object, simply keep both eyes open and place the dot on the desired point of focus of the image and the camera's focus/tracking capability will nail the shot. The bigger the lens, the better the system works: sports and wildlife photographers will wonder where this solution has been all their lives and surveillance photographers will stay alert longer and suffer less eye fatigue during grueling shifts. FastFinder is not a substitute for the on-board viewfinder of your camera, but a supplementary aid that has already proven itself as an invaluable tool with Americas Cup photographers, auto and motorcycle racing photographers as well as wildlife shooters. It also works great on cameras without viewfinders and video cameras with swing-out LCD displays. We even had a TV crew at a recent boat race trying to figure out where to mount one on their network camera.
